Social Media!

C0mments   ·   November 1st, 2011

Just a quick entry. As I’m trying to get back into the writing grind, as a form of procrastination, instead of actually writing today, I decided instead to spend some time installing social media forms to “follow” and “share” stuff from the blog, including a counter, displaying my Twitter feed, and (hopefully) establishing a connection between Twitter and WordPress so that each time I post a blog, it sends an update to Twitter.

Ha! So many useless things that will be important later, but for now are just a great way to avoid writing. It’s not that I don’t want to. There’s just been a lot going on in my personal life as of late. But that is no excuse!

Going bike riding in about 45 minutes. Then, hopefully, tonight or tomorrow morning, some real crankin’ on the book here. :)

Procrastination & Aggravation

Okay, I am not a script person. But what I am really good at is fumbling my way to make a script work. So I’ve included the “Ask” script and the installation was flawless. However, PoMMo (what I use for my Newsletter) died, so within a matter of months of getting that working, I had to uninstall it and find something else. Ugh.

In addition to that, I’ve spent a while trying to install this “simple” counter which ended up not working. I really want a counter because I have no idea how many visits my page gets, but it’s going to have to wait. I really need to write tonight.

Heather, my site designer, featured me on her design portfolio, Chrysallis. I recommended my author friend, John Van Vliet, hire her.

Oh, and I also need to set up a Twitter widget on the sidebar “like the cool people do.” :P

As for writing, my editor, Matt, has yet to get me back my first 5 chapters for Behind the Chimera. He’s been really busy. His apartment flooded, wife was in the hospital. Anyway, for his convenience, I printed the chapters and am going to drop them off today or tomorrow. Then I will get those online ASAP and post it all over every social media outlet I have, haha.

The book is almost done. The rewrite is 100%, and Matt fully edited it. Now I’m on the edit run-through. Unfortunately, I decided to add a bunch of content as I was going, lol. This is in an attempt to better the book of course. So that’s kind of shifted the editing a little because a lot of what he edited is now void. Now, I’d say I’m about 30% through. Thames is what I have always considered the half-way point, and I’m about there, so…

And it’s been a month-and-a-half hiatus, so I really have to get back in the grind. Starting tonight. Soon as I post this, I’m going to get right to it. Sometimes, when you’re been out of it for a while, the best thing to do is to dive right on in. <3
