And so it begins again! Another book. Very exciting. 🙂 My Scifi, which my agent has, was completed sometime last year around September. So this marks my second completed novel in a year! 😀 That’s my goal, too. Shoot for 1-2 novels a year. It’s possible because I have lots of ideas and I’m a very fast writer. So, fingers crossed.
It’s only draft #1, but that’s a big deal because novels can be hard to finish, lol. Especially for me. I have at least 6 unfinished (that I can remember). 😡 But you know, when a story needs to be told, you manage to complete it. And this one I call #thetreasurehunter needs to be told. It’s just too much fun. xD
I finished at 75,342 words. Really good for a couple reasons. One, I always try to hit 70k or above. Two, it’s a high fantasy and still not the 135,000-word beast Behind the Chimera was. I did have to do a lot of cutting in the second half, but those are just great scenes I can add in the next book.
So the next step is to get this printed, grab my red pen and highlighter, and do some serious editing. I already have a page and a half of edits that need to happen. There will be way more by the time this is over. As far as a time-frame, I’m thinking at least a week to read it, and that’s a lot. I’ll probably have it done sooner. Draft #2 really depends on how in depth the edits are. The process of writing this book was smooth because I had a really solid outline of exactly what the heck was happening. So I think that’s really going to help as far as plot holes and inconsistencies go.
Hoping to have it all done by the middle of October. Anyway, time to go celebrate with chocolate milk and comic books! xD
