So I originally had planned on documenting my editing process on Youtube, but that’s going a little slow because…well, I can’t stand to see myself on camera, lol. If I could, putting up videos would’ve been super easy. Just record on my camera and upload. But now I have to sort of make a podcast and that’s going to require more work. That’s a whole ‘nother story.
Anyway, as a result, I’m blogging about how editing is going. So far, so good. I’m roughly 25% through the book. Out of a fluctuating 176 pages, I’m in about 43/45 pages. It’s hard to pinpoint it because I spent about 90 minutes restructuring the entire book. In that time, I moved a bunch of chapters around as well as created a couple of new ones, so there’s lots of stuff going on. Some minor/semi-major manuscript surgery, if you will. I normally edit my books chapter by chapter, but because I am so balls to the wall with this one (lol), I’m going line by line. In other words, I’m partially rewriting the book as I go. It still reads well. But some parts need it.
It’s pretty time consuming. I listened to a lot of music to write draft #1, but I’m so focused on editing it that I work in complete silence. Overall, it’s going really well I think. I fix about 4 chapters at a time before I go back and reread them 2-3 times. Then I’ll move on and go back and reread them again just in case. In the end, I’m going to reread the book yet again for flow. Man, it’s so much work.
Writing is a hermit lifestyle. Earlier in the year, I had all these plans for Halloween. I mean, tons. Board game night, handing out candy, decorating the house, the front yard, baking for Will’s job. All of it, out the window. Why? Just not interested. Doesn’t sound like fun anymore. All I want to do is write. I feel bad about it, but what can I say? It’s how I feel. *shrug* Anyway, going to post this and get back to it. I’m at my arms dealer’s chapter. Very exciting part. One of my favorite chapters in the book. xD Hopefully in the next update, I’ll be 50% through the book or more!
